“The EFCC operatives are here with some gunmen and they have broken all my bulletproof doors”, says Okorocha
After long hours of siege on his Maitama, Abuja residence, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday in Abuja, have finally arrested a former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
The flamboyant, but controversial former governor was whisked away at exactly 06:48 pm by the operatives after breaking into his living room and dispersing protesters who came in their tens to drum support for him.
Minutes before the officers broke in, Okorocha, in a live video on his official Facebook Page, said officers of the commission had broken all his bulletproof doors.
He said, “The EFCC operatives are here with some gunmen and they have broken all my bulletproof doors. This may be my last appearance because I don’t know what they want to do.”
The Commission said the former Imo Governor had refused to honour invitations after jumping administrative bail earlier granted him.
The Senator representing Imo West had earlier declined to be taken away by the operatives, insisting that he will not submit himself without a warrant.
