Controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, also known as Portable was on Thursday charged with attempted murder at a magistrate court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Portable, who had been on the run following a warrant of arrest issued by the Magistrate Court, eventually surrendered himself to the police in Lagos yesterday. He was subsequently handed over to the Ogun State Police Command, which presented him in court this morning.

Apart from attempted murder charge, he was also accused of conspiracy, serious assault and breach of public peace.

Portable’s current travails stem from a violent incident on February 5, 2025, in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota, Ogun State, where Portable allegedly led a group of armed individuals in an attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development who had come for official duties at his Iyana Ilogbo bar. The officials had visited to enforce regulatory compliance when the singer and his crew allegedly beat them up and vandalized their equipment.

The Special Police Gazette Bulletin issued by the Inspector General of Police confirmed the severity of the case, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest against the 31-year-old artist.

Portable’s life and his musical career have been dotted with controversies and battles with the law.

In July 2022, the police force ordered an investigation into Portable’s statement where he claimed to be the leader of the notorious 1-million boys cult. He later beat a retreat and denied any membership of a cult.

In March 31, 2023, after initially ignoring a 72-hour ultimatum issued by the Ogun State Police Command over allegations that he assaulted a man at his Odogwu Bar, in Ogun State, he later turned himself in. He spent the weekend in police custody and he was arraigned in court and later granted bail.

In April 2024, Portable preemptively begged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, not to arrest him following the arrest and prosecution of transgender social media personality, Bobrisky and Cubana chief priest for abusing the Naira notes. The Zazzu zeh singer went live on Instagram to plead with the anti-graft agency for forgiveness for spraying naira, and promised not to repeat such.

In May 14, 2024, Portable became a trending topic after he was arrested over his refusal to settle the debt he incurred after buying a N27 million G-Wagon from a car dealer.
